Does Your Stove  Need a Service?

Servicing is an extremely important part of keeping your wood or multi-fuel stove running safeley and efficiently. All manufacturers state that their appliances should be swept and serviced at least once a year. A lack of maintenance can prove to be expensive in the long run as essential parts become seized or corroded. Solid fuel appliances can produce harmful gases and without proper servicing can release these gases into the room which can prove fatal. Be sure to use a HETAS registered enginner such as The Stove Doctor for all your servicing needs.

Parts that are inspected as part of an annual service include:

- Door rope seals

- Glass and glass seals

- Air intakes, fire bricks and baffle plates

- All connections and fire cement seal

- Carbon monoxide alarms

Liners and chimneys are all swept as part of our service using the correct rod and brush system that best suites the type of flue in use. A smoke pressure test will be carried out and a safety certificate issued on completion of the service.

Tar, soot and deposits in a chimney or flue liner can make a stove run poorly as it becomes increasingly difficult to light and burns with less efficiency. Most importantly keeping your chimney clear significantly reduces the risk of chimney fires, which can have a devastating and costly effect to you and your property.
